The Shelter Ministry

Welcome! Located in St. Louis, in the close-in suburb of Clayton, we are a parish made alive in Christ and celebrating this life through the Anglican liturgy and sacraments with vibrant preaching and teaching, and beautiful, traditional music. Ours is a welcoming community and we're extremely family-friendly.

The parish family is a lively mix of lifelong Episcopalians and members raised in a number of other denominations and religious traditions. We hope that if you haven't done so already, you'll join us soon!

Shelter Ministry volunteers arrive early each Sunday morning at the Gateway 180 shelter in downtown St. Louis. They set up, prepare, cook, serve a sumptuous breakfast and clean up, usually for well over a hundred hungry residents. More than 4,000 breakfasts are served each year. Volunteers also shop for the supplies needed to prepare breakfast and bring them to the shelter every Sunday morning. Sunday morning breakfast is the highlight of the week for many of the shelter’s residents, as it is for many Shelter Ministry volunteers.

Each family at the shelter also receives a “welcome home kit,” which includes a bucket and mop, a trash can and assorted other cleaning supplies, courtesy of the Shelter Ministry.

Won’t you rise bright and early on a Sunday morning and join this ministry in its important work?
