Spiritual Direction

Sometimes called “the ministry of holy listening,” spiritual direction offers the participant an opportunity to be accompanied and guided on his/her journey toward God through confidential one on one meetings with a spiritual director. Nicki Gillis, a lay spiritual director, and the clergy are available to meet with individuals who are interested in exploring this personal approach to spiritual formation.

Ignatian Home Retreats

Nicki Gillis also leads small groups through a series of retreats based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The retreats offer an opportunity to know God and how God is involved in one's daily life, rather than knowing about God.

Annual Women's Retreat

Womens RetreatWomen's Retreat '08 - Click here for a pdf

Every year during Lent there is a women's retreat held at a nearby retreat center. In 2007 the Rev. Paris Coffey and Barbara Kohnhorst led the retreat, entitled "Listening to God in Our Daily Lives." The leaders spoke about listening to God through our lives, through the world and through our own bodies, using yoga as a spiritual discipline. The fourteenth retreat will be held on February 29 and March 1, 2008, at the Mercy Center. The retreat leader will be Anne Grizzle, a psychotherapist, author and spiritual director from Texas, who will help us reflect on the topic, "Strength for the Journey: Christ's Presence in the Hard Places of Life." For further information, contact Nicki Gillis at the Church.
