Dear Parishioners,
As the days begin to shorten and, hopefully, the heat begins to subside, we wish you continued health and safety. Thank you, as always, for your continued prayers and support for this congregation and our path forward.
This email summarizes recent updates our Wardens shared with the congregation.
Father Fred and his wife Linda continue to be a blessing to our community. In the pulpit, he has delivered thoughtful sermons, and beyond the pulpit, he has focused on building our community. Some notable initiatives include reintroducing daily morning prayer at 8:30 AM, adding services for specific feasts, moving his office to the first floor, and his presence in the Great Hall on Sundays.
Fr. Fred and Bishop Deon will meet in early September. A priority item for their agenda is the upcoming discernment process as we call a permanent rector. We know everyone is eager for information about what happens next. This is a thoughtful process, and we are working together to ensure that we as a congregation are prepared for the path ahead. In the meantime, we thank you for your nominations for potential Discernment Committee members. Those are being received, and we encourage you to continue sending us names. If you have someone in mind, please share your nomination by emailing vestry@csmsg.org.
With the Bishop’s blessing, Fr. Fred is coordinating with Fr. Archie to schedule a celebration and unveiling of Fr. Archie’s portrait in the Great Hall. More details will be shared when this event is finalized.
We warmly welcome Sarah Flesner, who joins us as our new Business Manager. We are grateful to Sonya York for her dedication to this community for six years. Sonya will stay with us through August 21 to facilitate a smooth transition.
And finally, our Junior Warden, Frankie Eichenberger, is forming a small committee to identify, prioritize, and implement necessary updates in the rectory. This beautiful home was built in 1913 and is in need of upgrades and care.
Our next Vestry meeting is August 20. We will post and share minutes on the CSMSG website and in the Parish Bulletin, following our meeting.
