LENTEN WOMENS’ RETREAT

The Mercy Center
Friday, March 1, 5:00 PM  to Saturday, March 2, 3:00 PM, 2024

Risking Love
Love, both giving love and receiving love, is a risk. To love means you will be challenged, face conflict, and what you fear most may happen. To receive love requires openness, vulnerability, and a willingness to live with ambiguity. In this retreat, we will walk with Jesus as he accepts the risks of love along the way – His way. The retreat will be led by Carol Atwell Ackels, J.D., the director of the Ignatian Spirituality Institute.
Ackels serves as a retreat director of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in various formats. She offers weekend retreats, the Exercises in Everyday Life, and one-to-one directed retreats at Jesuit retreat houses across the United States. She launched and continues to give workshops to shape persons, Jesuits and lay, who are moving into retreat ministry and spiritual companioning in the Ignatian tradition.
Ackels co-authored with Joe Tetlow, S.J.  the Ignatian retreat Finding Christ in the World, and worked with Anthony Borrow, S.J. developing the Toward Greater Freedom retreat for parents at Jesuit College Prep of Dallas. She holds a J.D. from SMU Dedman School of Law, Dallas and a Master of Art in Theology and Leadership from Gonzaga University.

We hope you will treat yourself to this retreat! A perfect way to exchange busyness for prayer, presence and exchanging darkness of anxiety for the light of Jesus Christ during Lent.
The retreat begins Friday, March 1 at 5 PM with a hospitality reception, followed by dinner at 6 PM, retreat at 6:45 PM, and ends with compline at 9 PM. On Saturday, March 2, breakfast is served at 8 AM, retreat begins at 8:45 AM. The retreat will end at 3 PM.
