The Organ Arrives

There is a moment in the life of any community of faith when something long hoped for finally becomes real. For this parish, that moment is nearly here.

On Monday, August 10, the Schoenstein & Co. pipe organ will arrive at The Church of St. Michael & St. George. What began years ago as a vision, and became a campaign sustained by the extraordinary generosity of this congregation, will cross the threshold of our doors and take its place in the chancel where it was always meant to be.

The Work Ahead

Installation is a lengthy and exacting process. Schoenstein & Co. will be on site throughout, carefully assembling an instrument that has been designed specifically for this room, this acoustical space, and this worshipping community. St. George’s Chapel will remain locked during this period as a secure, dedicated storage area for their equipment, and the Main Church will be inaccessible during the week for the duration of the build.

Where We Will Worship

We are committed to ensuring that the rhythms of prayer and worship continue without interruption throughout the installation. Here is where you will find us:

Continuing in the Main Church:
8 AM · Holy Eucharist
10 AM · Choral Eucharist
Funerals · As scheduled

Moving to the Taylor Room:
5 PM · Sunday Holy Eucharist
11:30 AM · Tuesday Eucharist
8:30 AM · Morning Prayer, Monday–Friday
7:30 AM · Friday Morning Prayer

We expect these accommodations to remain in place through the beginning of the fall programming year. Updates will be shared here on the parish website and in the weekly e-letter as the installation progresses.

A Word on What This Instrument Is For

It would be easy, in the midst of logistics and schedules, to lose sight of why any of this matters. An organ is not furniture. It is not an amenity. It is a voice, one that will lead this congregation in praise for generations to come, long after all of us have gone.
