After years of dreaming, planning, and faithful preparation, the moment is nearly here. On Monday, August 10, the new Schoenstein & Co. pipe organ will arrive at The Church of St. Michael & St. George — and with it, a new chapter in the worship life of this parish.
The organ’s arrival marks the beginning of an installation process that will unfold over the coming weeks. Schoenstein & Co., one of the foremost organ builders in North America, will be on site throughout, carefully assembling an instrument that has been designed specifically for this space and this community. St. George’s Chapel will remain secured during this period as a dedicated storage area for their equipment.
It is not lost on us that instruments like this one exist to do something no building renovation or capital campaign can accomplish on its own — to draw the human voice and the human heart upward in praise. As the psalmist wrote, Praise him with strings and pipe (Psalm 150:4). What is coming is not merely a new piece of furniture for the chancel. It is a gift to every person who will sit in these pews for generations to come.
Worship During Installation
All Sunday services will continue in the Main Church without interruption:
8 AM · Holy Eucharist
10 AM · Choral Eucharist
5 PM · Holy Eucharist
Tuesday Eucharist will move to St. Mary’s Chapel beginning August 18. Please note there will be no Tuesday Eucharist on August 11 due to active installation work.
