Organ Project Update: Upcoming Facilities Work

As we prepare for the installation of our new Schoenstein organ, we are entering the first phase of physical work inside the church. This stage focuses on readying the organ chambers and High Altar area so the new instrument can be installed on schedule.

What’s Ahead

Beginning December 26, 2025, and continuing through February 2026, you’ll see a series of coordinated facilities projects taking place in and around the organ chambers. These include:

  • Removal of existing electrical components
  • Removal of the former organ façade in the left and right chambers
  • Removal of trompette-en-chamade pipes
  • Installation of scaffolding to safely access upper and hard-to-reach areas
  • Plaster repairs and restoration inside both chambers
  • Painting and finishing work in the High Altar area and organ chambers

This work has been carefully sequenced to minimize disruption while ensuring the space is fully prepared for the arrival of the new organ.

What to Expect

  • The left and right organ chambers will be temporarily inaccessible during portions of the work, but all worship, classes, and formation programs will continue as usual.
  • During Sunday morning Holy Eucharist, clergy will continue to celebrate at the High Altar, but communion will be distributed from the front of the Nave and St. Mary’s Chapel
  • Weekday worship, including Tuesday 11:30 am Holy Eucharist, will be held in St. George’s Chapel
  • This phase does not involve any organ installation; it’s all preparatory work to create the proper environment for the new instrument.

Looking Ahead

Once this initial phase is complete, we’ll share an update on the next steps, including anticipated timelines for the next phase in the project.

Thank you for your patience and steadfast support as we move into this exciting stage. This instrument will bless our worship for generations, and we are grateful to be taking these important steps together.
