There is a particular kind of faith required of a building project: the willingness to sit with disruption, to worship amid scaffolding and sawdust, and to trust that what is being made ready is worth the wait. We are so grateful that this congregation has shown that faith in abundance throughout this project. We carry this gratitude alongside the recognition that this is a season of significant change for our parish family. We are grateful for your continued prayers and faithfullness during this time.

Beginning Monday, May 18, we enter a new and significant phase of the organ installation which will require more faith: floor work in the Main Church. It means that for the weeks ahead, our worship services will look and feel a little different. Here is everything you need to know.

What’s Happening

Floor work begins in the Main Church on May 18. Pews will be temporarily moved to allow crews to work on and polish the floor, a necessary step in the installation process. During this phase, the Main Church will not be accessible, including St. Mary’s Chapel and the Sacristy.

We anticipate this phase will extend into Summer, though the timeline will remain somewhat fluid as the work progresses. We will keep you updated here as we know more.

Where We Will Worship

All Sunday services — 8 AM, 10 AM, and 5 PM — will be held in the Great Hall for the duration of this phase. The Great Hall will remain configured for worship throughout, so there is no need to wonder week to week.

St. George’s Chapel will be open as an overflow space with the live stream set up for viewing.

Hearing loop accessibility remains available to all who may need it.

All weekday services will also take place in the Great Hall:

  • Tuesday Holy Eucharist — 11:30 AM
  • Friday Morning Prayer — 7:30 AM
  • Any additional special services

A Few Other Details

Christian Education (Sundays at 9 AM) concludes on Sunday, May 17th, and will not be affected by this next phase.

Coffee Hour will be held in the Taylor Room rather than the Great Hall.

Children’s Chapel (Sundays at 10 AM) will meet in St. Cecilia’s Room (the music room on the second floor).

About Music

The choir will continue with a cappella anthems and will lead the congregation in singing hymns throughout this period. We are exploring options for accompaniment and will share more as plans develop.

Looking Ahead

The Church has always been more than its building, and yet buildings matter. They hold memory, they shape prayer, they tell a community’s story across generations. And yet, as our Lord reminds us, “where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them.” It is in our life together in Christ that the Church is truly made the Church.

All of this work is an act of faith and of love, offered by this congregation for the generations who will worship here long after us.
