Guest Preacher This Sunday: The Reverend Canon John W Kilgore
The Reverend Canon John W Kilgore MD is a cardiologist who practiced at SSM St. Mary’s Health Center for over thirty years and served as Medical Director of Cardiovascular Services for SSM Hospitals in the St. Louis area. Additionally he was a founding partner of Metro Heart Group of St. Louis. For many years he was a member of the Church of St. Michael and St. George.
Dr. Kilgore is a native Missourian, having grown up in Joplin and receiving his bachelor’s degree in Biology, his Master of Sciences in Public Health, and his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Missouri—Columbia.
Fr. Kilgore’s theological education took place at Eden Theological Seminary and the Aquinas Institute for Theology in St. Louis. He received his Certificate in Anglican Studies from the General Theological Seminary in New York, and was ordained priest on the Feast of the Annunciation, March 25, 2004.
Currently living in Virginia and Madrid, Spain he is canonically resident in the Convocation of Episcopal Churches in the Europe. Over the last twelve years he has served parishes of both the Church of England and the Episcopal Church in continental Europe. Most recently he was interim rector at St.Paul’s Within the Walls Episcopal Church in Rome, Italy. He is also actively involved as a board member of the Anglican Centre in Rome working on ecumenical relations between the Anglican Church and the Roman Catholic Church.
