November 6 – Evensong
The Choir of the Church of St. Michael & St. George will sing a service of Evensong in commemoration of all the faithful departed on November 6th at 5:00 PM. The service will include evening canticles of Herbert Howells and other music of John Tavener, Kenneth Leighton, and Edward Bairstow. Please plan to join us and be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

December 4 – Advent Lessons and Carols
The Choir of St. Michael & St. George will sing the service of Advent Lessons and Carols on December 4th at 5:00 PM. Advent is a season of both quiet reflection and joyful expectation. This service is intended to be a time of spiritual preparation, as we watch and wait for the coming of the Kingdom of God. Through our experience of sacred Word and music, the story of the coming of Christ gradually unfolds and deepens our understanding of God’s message of love and redemption. The liturgy itself embodies the sense of Advent movement — through the choir’s processions and in the increasingly powerful prophecies and promises of Holy Scripture. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

December 18 – Nine Lessons and Carols
Please plan to join us on December 18th at 5 :00 PM to join the Choir of St. Michael & St. George as they sing the service of Christmas Nine Lessons and Carols. This service was adapted by The Very Reverend Eric Milner-White for use at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge in 1918. In his words, ‘The main theme is the development of the loving purposes of God’ seen ‘through the windows and words of the Bible’. The organ prelude will begin at 4:30 PM. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

January 1 – Evensong
The Choir of the Church of St. Michael & St. George will sing a service of Evensong on Sunday, January 1 at 5:00 PM. The service will include evening canticles of Herbert Brewer, and other works by Philip Stopford and Peter Aston. Please plan to join us and be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day.

February 5 – Evensong
The Choir of the Church of St. Michael & St. George will sing a service of Evensong for Trinity Sunday on Sunday, June 4th at 5:00 PM. The service will include evening canticles of Herbert Howells, and other works by Philip Radcliffe, Balfour Gardiner, and Ralph Vaughan Williams. Please plan to join us and be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

February 12 – Evensong at St. Peter’s, Ladue
The Choirs of the Church of St. Michael & St. George and St. Peter’s Ladue, under the direction of Nicholas Bideler and David Sinden, will sing a service of Evensong on Sunday, February 12th at 5:00 PM at St. Peter’s, Ladue. The service will include evening canticles of Alexandre L’estrange, and other works by 20th and 21st century composers. Please plan to join us and be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

March 5 – Evensong at The Abbey of St. Louis
The Choir of The Church of St. Michael & St. George will sing Choral Evensong Sunday, March 5th at 5:00 PM at the St. Louis Abbey, 500 South Mason Road in Creve Coeur. The service will include evening canticles composed by Anna Albinson, along with music of Alexander L’Estrange, Gary Davison, and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina. This service is an offering of worship as part of our ongoing ecumenical relationship with the monks of the Abbey. Please plan to be a part of this beautiful, contemplative liturgy to mark the closing of the day and to celebrate our relationship with the St. Louis Abbey

April 2 – Palm Sunday Passion Vespers
Please plan to join the Choir this evening at 5:00 PM for Passion Vespers. This beautiful service is a great and holy way to begin Holy Week. The service will include six different meditations on the Passion of Christ interspersed with hymns and anthems sung by the choir. The choir will also sing Evensong on Holy Monday, Holy Tuesday, and Holy Wednesday at 5:30 PM.

May 7 – Eastertide Vespers sung by the Monks of the Abbey of St. Louis
On Sunday, May 7th at 5:00 PM, we will once again welcome the Abbot and monks of St. Louis Abbey to The Church of St. Michael & St. George as they lead us in worship and sing Latin Vespers for Eastertide. This liturgy is a part of our ongoing ecumenical relationship with the Abbey and one of the opportunities we have each season to worship with the monks. Please plan to join us and experience the beauty of the ancient monastic office sung as it has been for over a thousand years. A reception to honor the monks will follow. A reception will follow in the Great Hall.

June 4 – Evensong

The service will include evening canticles of Herbert Howells, and other works by Philip Radcliffe, Balfour Gardiner, and Ralph Vaughan Williams.
