As infants, our parents and godparents make vows for us at our baptism. Confirmation year is about deepening our understanding of those vows. We learn to see Christ as he is revealed in Sacred Scripture and the liturgy of the church, and then confirm our faith through the laying on of hands by the bishop.
Confirmation year is a year of discovery, learning, relationship building, and service. We begin the year with a Sunday afternoon potluck in Shaw Park; study the faith each Sunday morning; serve our neighbors on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; and learn more about the liturgy through the Verger’s Walk and Guided Eucharist.
In addition to these events, the class meets on Sundays, September-April, from 10:20-11:00 AM. Confirmation is generally conducted for eighth grade students, though high school students are welcome if they have not been confirmed.
Students will also have the opportunity to get to know their sponsors over lunch throughout the year from 11:00AM-12:00PM in the gym, following the Confirmation Class.
